Guerrero Jr. in attendance for WBC game between Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico
As Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ponders whether he could still play for the Dominican Republic at the World Baseball Classic, the Toronto Blue Jays slugger is keeping close tabs on what his country is doing.
With the Dominican Republic going up against Puerto Rico with a trip to the quarterfinals up for grabs, Guerrero Jr. made the journey to LoanDepot Park in Miami to show his support.

Guerrero Jr. made his return to the Blue Jays’ lineup on Wednesday for the first time since leaving a game on March 3 with right knee discomfort.
The 23-year-old had an RBI double and showed no ill effects from the knee injury hustling on a ground ball and reaching first base after an error.

Guerrero withdrew from the first round of the tournament after suffering the knee injury, but notably left open the possibility of participating in the knockout stages — health willing.
After the game, Guerrero Jr. maintained that the health of his knee and the success of the Blue Jays are his priorities.
“I’m going to take this day-by-day. It all depends how I feel. Right now, I feel great. But I don’t know how I’m going to feel [Thursday,]” Guerrero said. “First thing’s first — my knee. I want to make sure that everything is perfect with my knee. We’ll see how it feels [Thursday] and then we’ll see what happens.”
The Dominican team must get there first, with a winner-moves-on clash with Puerto Rico on tap. But should the Dominicans prevail, there is at least interest on Guerrero’s part in joining the team for the quarterfinals in Miami this weekend.
“I don’t know. We’ll see,” manager John Schneider said after Wednesday’s game. “We’ll see how he is tonight and see how he is [Thursday] and go from there. But I’m happy that he looked good today — for him and for us.”
