What to wear when going ice skating?

If you’re just starting out, we’ve listed what you need to wear, bring and be prepared for when you get on the Ice.

What to wear when going ice skating? – What To Bring Checklist:

1. Socks

If you do go to the rink wearing sandals, make sure to bring socks. The thicker socks can make it difficult for your feet to comfortably fit in the skates. However, socks that are small and thin could cause blisters due to the edges and the insides of the skates, which rub the skin. A middle point is the ideal size.

2. Comfortable pants

It could be anything including track-suits to yoga clothes. You just need something comfortable that you be able to move in. The longer pants are the best and are a great way to keep your feet warm.

3. Warm gloves

They can be affordable so long as you’ve got some way to ensure your hands are warm as well as secure. Slips and falls result in the hands of skaters making immediate contact with freezing the ice. If you’re lucky enough to not injury yourself, you’ll simply be cold.

4. A warm beanie or hat

A prime places where you’ll begin to feel cold is your face, but especially your ears. A beanie is a must so that you can protect your ears from cold.

5. A scarf

Similar to a beanie, they are also a great option, however, and can help protect your skin from the chill.

6. Jacket

This doesn’t require any heavier or padded jacket. Even if you’re not playing ice hockey moving around on the ice all day long helps you get warm. The only thing you’ll need is a lightweight garment to protect your arms from the sun and hold your body’s heat from your skin.

7. Helmet

It’s not something that is needed for adults, however, young children and novice skaters might want to wear a helmet to protect themselves. The ice is very thick and hard, and novice skaters are more likely to take an accident. If you don’t have a helmet, there’s no need to fret as the majority of skate parks have rental helmets.

8. Skates

Don’t worry if you do not have the right pair. The majority of ice rinks offer skate rentals, with the possibility of the figure skating or ice hockey. The skates that are available for rental aren’t in as good state as bowling shoes, and if you’ve got your own pair , take them.

What To Wear

In Australia the closest we’re able to be to the ice skating rink is the ice skating rinks in our indoors and sometimes a public outdoor rink you’ll see on Luna Park or a winter themed event. But even though the options aren’t as extensive and we’re skating on a man-made ice does not necessarily mean we should do go ice skating, we can’t dress like a professional.
